2021 Great Texas Balloon Race Officials
Championship Director: Sam Parks
Sam Parks is embarking on his inaugural year as director of the Great Texas Balloon Race during this year's event. Parks, the Director of Operations for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, took over after the passing of longtime GTBR Balloonmeister Jim Birk.
Parks has served as the Balloonmeister at the Albuquerque event since 2013 and in 2018 added the Director of Operations title for the largest gathering of balloonists in the world. The addition of Parks, who has been flying balloons since 1988, as Championship Director/Balloonmeister for the Great Texas Balloon Race continues a tradition of having only the best officiate this top-notch event in East Texas.
